Advice

The first peice of advice I have for you is dont procrastinate. 8th grade isn't actually that hard, if you don't procrastinate. If you manage to get Mr. Felser for math you are either smart or lucky. And also if you get him call him Mrs. Felser and then say "From Brady Callen".

Daily Journal

I think the Daily Journal is pointless. I think it is a waste of time that could be used for other class work. If we didn't do it every day then we use the time for reading and writing.

Civil War

1. One cause of the civil war was the election of President Abraham Lincoln. He was anti-slavery and for North interests. The south didn't like him because of this and that's one reason that the war started.

2. One important battle of the civil war was the battle of Gettysburg. This battle was an unexpected, unplanned battle. It was a location where Union soldiers and confederate soldiers met each other. This battle was won by the Union and brought them much closer to victory. After the battle of Gettysburg was lost the confederate army kept losing battles.

3. One influential person in the war was Abraham Lincoln. He was elected as the president during the civil war. He also fought in the war. He fought in the war even though he didn't have much military experience.

Play

Yesterday the drama class and club put on a play called "The Rockin' Tale of Snow White". I was in this play but I also got to see it. Yesterday was not its first official showing but it was instead a dress rehearsal without stopping or interruptions. There was also an audience but it was mostly kids from grade school. For being our first showing with no stops i think we did good but we could have done better. There was one point where someone forgot to go on so the character that was waiting for her had to do make up lines to to stall the audience. Then when she finally made it on the show continued like nothing ever happened.

Dialogue

1. I have to go into the war.
2. No, you cant i need you here to help with our kids.
1. We need more money and if I go into the war then ill be making more than you can me combined right now.
2. But I cant take care of the kids alone.
1. Hire someone. We will have extra money.
2. I don't want our kids to be raised by a babysitter, i want them to be raised by their mother and father.
1. Its not like ill be gone for 10 years, one, two at max.
2. And how can you be so sure, what if it lasts more than that.
1. I'm sure it wont, besides the confederacy has almost already won.
2. Yeah well what if you get shot.
1. Just because I get shot doesn't mean ill die.
2. No but it could leave you permanently handicapped.
1. At least ill never forget that I served my country.
2. OK but what if you do die.
1. Well then you'll get even more money.

Civil War

The Battle of Gettysburg wasn't supposed to happen. The only reason it was fought was because Union forces were found by the Confederates there. This is in the 3rd thing that surprised people. It also says that Gettysburg had no strategic importance. I think I could use this as a big part in my story so yes I could use this in my research.

Stream of Consciousness

I don't want to die. I'm afraid I will get shot every second. This is war I should have been ready for this but I'm not, I'm not ready at all. I don't want my wife to have to worry about me being killed. If I get killed she will have to make a funeral, pay for expenses herself, take care of our two children, alone. I don't want to mess up. If I get a chance to kill one of them and I freeze or just if I cant bring myself to to kill him I could get wounded or killed. If I could make it out of this alive i would be so happy. I wouldn't have to worry about my wife trying to survive without me, I wouldn't have to be afraid of getting shot, I wouldn't have make my children question where i am or be without a dad. But what if I don't make it. No I have to make it, I will. I wish I was with a bigger group but it's only me and one other person. I don't even like him. All he does is talk about his life. He isn't even married. He says how his life is so amazing, well at least I have someone other than my parents.

Thesis of historical book

My book is about The Battle of Gettysburg. It is about everything in it like the weapons of the battle and people that were in it. I am going to have two characters that are soldiers in the war. It is going to take place in Gettysburg. The conflict in the story is going to be the soldiers trying not to get killed in the battle, and also the one seeing his wife. Another conflict is going to be that the two soldiers don't really like each other but they are put together. The soldiers want to help end the war before too many people die. The only problem is, the soldiers has to finish out the war before they can leave, and before the one can see his wife.

Motivations

What makes people act is different for everyone. Some people want to be good, some want to be recognized, some want rewards, everyone wants their own thing. I think that the world is split about halfway when it comes to who they think of first. People that think of themselves first don't necessarily think of themselves first always, they can think of other people first too. I think that I am a little selfish but not all the time.

Fighting

I believe that is is OK to fight sometimes as long as its not violent. Its OK to fight when you disagree on something. Nonviolent fighting could be like arguing with someone. I think it is OK to fight for your opinion. I would fight against having seating charts. I think that students should be able to sit by their friends so they can collaborate. Some people don't like talking, or collaborating, with people they don't hang out with, so they could collaborate with their friends if they sat next to them.

Free Will

I think that some people have free will but some people don't. Some people are ruled by kings and queens that say what they can or cant do, and some people are ruled by dictators that make them do things. I think this because dictators are the worst rulers because what they want they get, also kings and queens have power but not all the power.

What would i change about the school

One thing i would change is how long the day is. I would shorten the school day and each of its classes by an hour. I would also add a "nap time" because when you are in kindergarten you don't ever use nap time but when your in 8th grade you are almost always tired. Lastly I would change the food to food that is actually good. I believe that with these changes the students would still be ready and prepared for high school.

Reflection

I think my discussion was OK. My group used facts and reasons to support our opinion. My group did well with facts. We stayed on topic and involved the class. We could have been louder and that would have made it better. I did like the assignment as much as just writing an essay, but it was different. It was really easy to stand up there because you weren't the only one talking people in the class had to talk also.

Japan's earthquake

Recently a 9.0 earthquake hit Japan. There as much devastation and sadness there. around 20,000 were estimated dead and more than 100,000 in shelters. Scientists were confused because younger tectonic plates should create bigger quakes because they were harder to push to the center of the Earth, but the plate that produced the 9.0 quake in Japan was one of the oldest plates.
Also scientists know that there are some unknown faults that could create earthquakes. There could be thousands of faults that could produce deadly earthquakes. Not only are some of the faults unknown some are also underestimated. Some are expected to make lower quakes like 1.0 to 3.0 but they can actually produce up to 7.0 or something higher.

Chuck Norris

Many of you know Chuck Norris. You may know him for his jokes. Chuck Norris jokes are imposable tasks that people say Chuck Norris has accomplished. One such joke is, Chuck Norris can slam a revolving door, or They saw Chuck Norris' tears can cure cancer, too bad Chuck Norris doesn't cry. Others may know him because he stared in may movies and TV series. One show he was in was Walker Texas Ranger. His part in the show was the deputy back in the old west. But anyways back to what I was saying before, many of you know him for this reason or that but me, I know him because he's my dad.

Can human beings ever be truly equal?

I believe that no human beings cannot be equal. If everyone were equal then someone who was smarter would have to become less smart. Someone who was more athletic would have to become less athletic. Making someone less smart or athletic isn't truly fair and that's why I think that no, human beings can never be truly equal.

Super Human Power

If I could pick one super human power I would pick the power of any power I want. I would choose this because then I could have any power and I wouldn't have to choose one. Also I would be ready for anything to happen if I had any power.The powers would be anywhere from being invisible to being super fast to being able to see through things.
